Positech

Positech does not use DRM for any of their games. In fact, the developer performed a poll, asking people to tell him what their reasons for pirating his games were. What he got back is fairly interesting, and the result is here. That also made him go back on his plans to start DRMifying his games. S…

DRM

Consists of 2 “products”. The actual game, and the creature creator, which is the “demo”.

Uses SecuROM, which means ring0 driver, online activation when you install the game and when you fetch online content, and an install limit of 3-5 different machines, depending on which copy you've got. If you bought the first batch, the limit is 3 machines, if it's the second it's 5 machines.

Galactic Civilization II

This game was released in April 2008, and is a space-based strategy game. The game has absolutely no DRM in it, the only thing legal users get which pirates do not, is access to updates. Yet, despite this, it has sold well over 500k copies so far.
